Firm OverviewWater law and water rights and related areas of natural resource law, in Colorado and other western states, are the primary emphases of our law firm. Sandy White and David Jankowski have practiced water law and natural resource law together since 1974.   In 1984, they formed White & Jankowski, with the conviction that legal services in water rights and related natural resource fields could be provided most effectively by a small firm concentrating on those matters.   Over the years, the firm has grown to ten attorneys, who continue to provide distinguished legal consulting, negotiation, and litigation services to public and private sector clients in Colorado and other western states in all of the areas described on our practice areas page.   Sandy and Dave have been joined by partners Bill Hillhouse, Dave Taussig and Sarah Klahn, associates Jason Turner, Bridget McCann, Matthew Merrill and Kelly Snodgrass, and counsel Lisa Hillhouse. White & Jankowski's negotiation and litigation experience is extraordinarily comprehensive.   The firm's lawyers have been lead counsel in numerous state and federal court trials lasting from a half day to six months on water law and other natural resource and environmental law subjects, and have argued appeals in the Colorado, Wyoming, and United States Supreme Courts.   They have also successfully completed complex settlements requiring up to a full year of negotiations. White & Jankowski's attorneys work daily with engineers, hydrologists, geologists, water quality specialists, and other professionals whose assistance is often crucial to the successful resolution of water law, water rights and other natural resource legal matters.   The firm's attorneys are equally skilled at working with attorneys who concentrate in other areas of practice and whose clients need assistance in natural resource matters.   In fact, much of White & Jankowski's legal work is referred by other attorneys or by natural resource professionals. White & Jankowski's client list runs the gamut from private water users, concerned about the dependability of their small domestic wells, to the State of Wyoming, whose concern was millions of acre-feet of water claimed by the United States for federal water uses unregulated by Wyoming law.   Our lawyers are experienced in resolving legal problems associated with urban and rural water use by public and private users. White & Jankowski's attorneys have taught at the Colorado State University College of Engineering, the University of Denver and the University of Colorado Schools of Law, and have presented many short courses in natural resource subjects.   They have contributed articles to numerous law reviews, bar journals, and other professional publications. |
