John P. Justus

John Justus represents individuals and business entities in water rights, water rights titles and real property matters. He also represents various types of specialized water rights entities, including irrigation districts, mutual ditch and reservoir companies, and water and sanitation districts. John has litigation experience before Colorado Water Courts in several divisions concerning the adjudication of water rights, changes of water rights, appropriative exchanges, and plans for augmentation. Further, his administrative agency practice includes experience with adjudicatory and rulemaking hearings before the Colorado Ground Water Commission and various ground water management districts. Prior to attending law school, John spent roughly six years in the field as a Wildlife Biologist, a background which has allowed for effective representation of clients who are opposed to proposals to list species under the Endangered Species Act.
